Girl's Camp

we had adorable cupcakes made for a spiritual thought for our girls one day

I think our favorite thing about camp was sitting around the fire at night singing
Our super cute flag
I was called to be the assistant camp director for my church's girls camp this year. Truth be told I was not super excited about it. Not because I don't like camping--I love camping.; but because I never really liked girls camp growing up. Especially stake girls camp, which this year happend to be one. Over a hundred 12-18 y/o girls in the woods for a week. That should tell you everything you need to know about stake girls camp. Add a little lack of sleep and lots of sugar and it gets even better. We started planning for it in December and let me tell you-- I had no idea how involved girls camp is and have a new found appreciation for all the time and effort my leaders put into camp when I was younger. Anywho the girls chose the theme Camp OZ (onward to zion) this year and each ward picked a character from the Wizard of Oz. Our girls chose the cowardly lion.  The ycls were the lollypop guild and tented in "the emerald city". Each day had a theme such as using your brain, having a heart, ect. We had a scarecrow building compitition that the girls could get good deed straw bucks to fill our scarecrow up with in hopes of winning with the most stuffed scarecrow at the end of the week. I was dragging my feet and having kind of a bad attitude about it at first, but it ended up not being so bad after all. It was fun getting to know the young women better--especially the ones in my sunday school class (David and I teach the 16/17y/o class). I still think that leaders should have a special t-shirt made that says something along the lines of--survivor:girls camp or something though. I'm not sure I'm ready to do that again anytime soon, but all in all, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
