Catching up with Christmas

Davey-Boy and Glen with their cookies. Off to the right is the center piece I won at David's work Christmas party.

Up close of the cookies'n'cream cookies. So beautifully delicious!

Sammy's pigs in a blanket. Don't worry--they didn't make it out on a cookie platter.
We had a fun, busy December. To recap the last little bit of 2011: I quit my job a little into December, so I could make merry and not have to worry about work getting in the way. For those of you who aren't aware of the situation--it was best for me to get out of there. It was getting to the point that I was harboring so much bitterness toward my employer and his company that it wasn't a healthy environment for me anymore. Just a bad business all around, so I cut ties and got the heck out of there. Sooo much happier now. Next: we had David's work party that was very well put on. The people involved with the planning of it are pretty much amazing. It was at the Alaska Native Heritage Museum (super neat place) and was catered (not so fond of that catering company), but we had a bit of fun and we ended up winning some really neat things...like an ipad 2, $100 gift card to Sportsman Warehouse and the gorgeous rose/crystal candle centerpiece. Quite unexpected and a merry Christmas to us indeed! So on to the pictures--we had our dear friends over a couple nights in a row and we baked to our heart's content. I wanted to try some new recipes I found on pinterest, so we did and they were yummy. We discovered that the cookies'n'cream tasted much better after they had sat for a bit and cooled completely off.  The s'mores cookies taste best right out of the oven. Next time I think we'll try to crunch up the graham crackers into the dough instead of laying the dough on top. The boys wanted to make ginger snaps and the girls wanted to do peppermint zingers as well, so by the time we were finished, we were pretty cookied out. Now onto Christmas...it was very strange this year since my mom was gone up on the slope. We did Christmas a few days early with my family and spent the actual day with David's parents and Jonathon (our step-uncle that happens to be a year and a day older than me). We watched movies and lazed around. It was nice to just chill. We spent New Year's at our place with Meg and Edwiin and the babe, Davis and Heather and Glen playing games and hanging out. Heather and Glen spent the night Sunday and we all went out snow machining Monday. It was in the negatives and windy, so we piddled around for a few hours and came back and warmed up. I'm not super fond of snow machining, but I can take one for the team! I'm looking forward to making this a great year and trying to stay on top of this blogging business!
