| This is the shyest of the group, but getting more confident every day. He's a lover, not a fighter. |
 |
| He is the ring leader and has quite the sassy attitude |

| Here is "fatty". He's very vocal when he wants you to pay attention to him, but so sweet. He looks like a bear cub since he's so fluffy-mostly when he's on his back. |
So on new year's eve I became a foster momma to 3 darling border collie/lab mix boys. They were born 11/25/11 and they came to alaska dog and puppy rescue when their momma was hit and killed by a car. When I got them they were just 5 weeks old. Today they are 6 weeks. I have them until they are at least 8 weeks old so they can be neutered/get their booster shots, etc before they can be adopted. So how this program works is ADPR provides all the food, vet visit payments, blankets--everything you will need and all you have to do is provide the love to these babies. I figure this is the best thing for me--I get to love me up some puppies and hopefully curb my need for a permanent puppy...these little tikes are so adorable. They are so loving and sweet. Play time isn't really play time because they all just pile up on my lap and kinda zone out while I pet them-occasionally they mindlessly chew on one of their toys or the strings of my sweatshirt. I love them! Sammy dog is getting better with it all, though he still won't play with them. I think they make him nervous because they're such friendly little things and follow him around (maybe some of that herding instinct from the border collie side). Sammy has no intention of being father goose (great movie btw). David won't even touch them and acts like he detests them for Sammy's sake, so this really is my own little endeavor. I think if David played with them, Sammy would be forced to get over himself, but David thinks not. So lesson to learn: if you get a puppy make sure it meets other dogs and people while it's young. This is called socialization. Sammy never got that and that's why he's the self-centered little pooch he his that can't handle other dogs on "his" turf. Anyway, this is a good practice run to prepare me for kids... I am constantly feeding them and cleaning up their messes all day! But I don't mind since they're so darn cute and loving.
